A little bit about how I got here. I’m in my 50th year of living, mother of 3 adult boys now. My fitness only started 6 years ago, after being out of the work force for 10 years and living abroad for 9 years, supporting my Husband and children. I was overweight, made some bad eating choices, and generally didn’t feel that great about myself. I started to run (yip, a Forest Gump!), and I still remember the day I ran non-stop for 2km. After that, I was unstoppable. 9 Marathons (42kms), an ultra marathon (53km, with an elevation gain higher than Mt Egmont/Taranaki), lost count of all the ½ marathons in many countries around the world. These legs have run over 11000kms in the last 6 years. Running opened up my mind to get through some pretty challenging times, but I did it! I am very proud of myself for knowing my body and controlling my mind to get me through all the barriers that were in place to prevent me from achieving my goals.
I returned to my home town of New Plymouth in September 2017 not knowing what to do. During a trip to Bali I found FlyHigh Yoga and did a 50 hour teacher’s training course. On my return I wanted to learn more on how the body works, so I started NZQA Levels 3&4 fitness consultant course through NZ Institute of Health and Fitness. This had its challenges with learning a new skill and going back to school after 30 years.
Now I am ready: NZQA Level 3 & 4 Fitness consultant, Certified FlyHigh Yoga trainer at level 1 and 2 (which is advance training with adjustments). I am so excited of how far I have come in my body and mind. I want to give back some of my drive, positive energy, support, encouragement, and empowerment to others, so I created Total Body and Mind. I am looking forward to working with you all to follow your journey to creating a positive life changing experience in fitness, health, body, and mind, and of course don’t forget fun!
Namaste
